Yummy Scrummy moments on a tour of London

I went to London yesterday - on a media tour for work, if anyone has any blister remedies please call!!

Anyway, on the train, at 9.30am chugging along, I reached into my bag to see what I'd got, as I'd flown the house without breakfast.

I'd picked up a handful of Organic Fairtrade Bars from Boots by Tropical Wholefoods , I've never had them before and thought a trip to London would be made much nicer with a ready supply of nibbles for the journey.

Each bar is 40g and about 150 or so calories depending on the flavour you choose. Pack says they are a good source of fibre and low in salt too. I did find they were 9g of fat per 100g so not suitable for Rosemary Conley fans, but that said they were yummy.

I began by breakfasting with the Banana and Honey version, I thought the bars wold be crunchy and hard work, rather like an Alpen style bar, but they were more chewy and gooey, more like an unhealthy sweetie!! Which makes eating them even more tempting, as you think you're up to no good!

Each one is organic and the flavours I've sampled are Banana and Honey - my current favourite... Mango and Brazil, very nice but I personally probably would not buy again and Date and Walnut - this too was yummy but not as nice as the banana one!

Himself tried the Apricot and Kernel one, we're not sure what a kernel is other than the inside of a nut, but he said he liked the bar anyway and finished it off with gusto.

At 40g they're not going to fill you up all day, but just enough for a gooey snack of sweetness, so in order to keep your saintliness and polish your dieting halo, grab an Tropical Wholefoods Organic Bar instead of some choccy!!! I'm sure you're skin and general insidey bits will thank you for it!

  1. Hello, and happy greetings from Tropical Wholefoods.. thank you so much for blogging on our products, we really appreciate the mention and the support. Also for finding the products in Boots - its the newest outlet stocking our snack bars and we're over the moon to be working side them! Just a quick note that you are right about apricot kernel, it is the seed within the shell. In the past, these would just be thrown away, but we've found quite a few uses for these fantastic healthy little seeds - including teaming them up with delicious tangy apricots for the apricot and kernel snack bar, as well as roasting them with tamari soy sauce for a new range of flavoured apricot kernels. I'd love to send you some samples, email me at rachel@fullwellmill.co.uk .. PS - remedy for blisters? Is there such a miracle!? I always found whinging about them a lot and eating chocolate seems to help :)

    With thanks,
